Wedding Invitations - Top Tips

A wedding invitation sets the tone of your big day. Your guests will use your invitation as a hint of what to expect on the day.  No matter where you are having your wedding whether it be traditional or modern, formal or informal Invitation House can supply beautiful invitations.

Traditionally, the bride’s parents are the hosts of the wedding so they usually organise the invitations.  However, more couples are organising their own wedding and are the hosts so therefore, organise their own invitations, send them out and receive the replies.
Once the wedding details have been finalised the wedding invitations should be ordered and sent out.  If you have already sent save the date cards then sending out your wedding invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding is sufficient.  If you have not sent save the date cards then allow your guests as much notice as possible, especially if you are getting married in the summer months when holidays are generally taken.

Always put an RSVP by date on your invitations so that you allow time to confirm the numbers with your venue which allows you to determine the size of your wedding party and how much food and drink etc you will need.  Also if you have a reserve guest list for wedding day guests you still have time to send out additional Wedding Invitations in plenty of time.

If your budget allows it is preferable to send separate RSVP postcards so that your guests can easily reply back to you with little effort on their part so that you are more likely to receive all the responses back within the time frame you’ve set.  If your RSVP date has passed and you have still not had confirmation from some guests you can call them at this point to verify that they have received the invitation and it has not gotten lost in the post.

Wedding invitations are a very important part of your wedding preparations. The decision of what to have on your wedding invitations should be a joint decision of both the bride and groom. Wedding invites are the first part of your wedding your guests will see and it’s very important that you ensure all the information required is included.

One of the first considerations should of course be the invitations themselves and the information that should be included. For example- what day your wedding will be on, the date and time, and the location. Your names also need to be on there. You should include information on if you are having a reception after the ceremony and where it will be held as well. You wedding invitations should match your wedding theme and colour scheme. Doing this will gives your guests an indication of the type of wedding you are having, e.g. formal/informal.

For guests not from the area you should included additional information of local accommodation and a map of the area.
